Preparing our Youth
Karval School is the home of approximately fifty bricks and mortar students in grades pre-K through 12 and over two hundred online students. Students receive individual attention from a caring twenty-member faculty in small classes. A counselor and school nurse are also available to support the students. The school is located at 16232 County Road 29 in Karval. Classes typically run four days a week, Tuesday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Academics
Despite its small size, Karval School offers a wide range of academic opportunities. High school students take advantage of college credit courses in College Algebra, Trigonometry, U. S. History, Human Anatomy, and Chemistry. Local curricular offerings are supplemented with advanced online options in foreign languages and mathematics. The music program offers numerous performance opportunities throughout the year and consistently sends students to regional and state honor choirs and bands.
Future Farmers of America (FFA)
FFA is the capstone of Karval School’s strong vocational program. The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Karval FFA students consistently represent their local chapter as officers on the regional and state levels.
Extracurricular Activities
The Karval Trojans compete in Colorado Division A sports and extracurricular activities. In addition to FFA, clubs include Knowledge Bowl, Yearbook, Drama, and National Honor Society. Football, volleyball, and baseball teams are formed through cooperation with the Genoa-Hugo school district. Basketball, track, and dance team are sponsored locally. Trojans enjoy strong support from the entire Karval community.
Online Education
Karval Online Education (KOLE) began in 2003 and is an online public school accredited by the State of Colorado. The curriculum is aligned with Colorado State standards and offers dual credit courses for juniors and seniors desiring college courses while meeting Karval’s graduation requirements. KOLE provides a dynamic education with the flexibility to meet individual student needs at their desired place and time, at no cost to the student or family.
